FOOTBALL supporters are being urged to free-up their Saturday afternoon and cheer on Hampstead Pearls this weekend when they step out at a Championship stadium.

Just hours after Brentford finish their home game against Wigan, the Pearls will take to the pitch at Griffin Park to play The Bees Under-15s girls’ team in what promises to be a spectacular showpiece.

In a rallying call manager Diane Culligan said: “It’s going to be a fantastic, fun-filled footballing day and we want people to come along and support the team.”

The match will be especially sweet for striker Alexis Taylor, who is working her way back to full fitness following an eight week spell on the sidelines after damaging knee ligaments two months ago.

“It was painful, and the recovery was really annoying because I was in a full cast, from my hip right down to my ankle, and couldn’t move my leg at all,” she said.

“I’m not fully fit yet, but I’m getting there.

“I’m itching to play and I’m really looking forward to the big game on Saturday.”

Brentford Girls versus Hampstead Pearls (pictured) is due to kick off at 4.30pm. Fans wanting to cheer on their local team should go to the Braemar Road stand.
