Shouldn’t the write-off of £2.5m be investigated independently?
Thursday, 24th August 2017
• THE New Journal’s revelation of £2.5million having been secretly written-off by Camden Council (Town Hall’s £2.5m bungle kept secret, July 27) and Comment, highlights two glaring issues.
First, the vital role that is performed by investigative journalists on truly local papers – for which, plaudits to the New Journal.
Second, the adequacy (or otherwise) of checks and balances within the council. I have the impression that even Labour backbench councillors have been kept as much in the dark as Camden’s rate-payers.
Should this appalling write-off of £2.5million not be investigated independently?
