SPURS’ Tom Carroll showed fans that the club has a great crop of youngsters coming through the ranks on Sunday.
Despite the disappointing 1-0 defeat against Fulham at White Hart Lane, a silver lining was provided by the exemplary performance by the young second-half substitute.
Carroll came on midway through the half and instantly provided a creative spark that led to two gilt edged chances. He has now made 12 appearances this term and looks set to play a crucial role in the end of season run-in.
“On a personal level, I was quite pleased with how it went but the three points would have been massive for us and we couldn’t get the win, so that was disappointing for everyone,” Carroll said after the game.
“We all wanted to bounce back after the results at Liverpool and at the San Siro against Inter Milan but unfortunately it wasn’t to be.
“We don’t have days like this very often, but this was one of them. I’m sure with the players in the squad we can bounce back and we’ll look to kick on again after the international break.
“We’ve some big characters in there and I’m confident we can do it.”
Carroll’s form has prompted a call-up to the England Under-21s squad, where he has been training with fellow young Spurs stars Andros Townsend, Danny Rose and Adam Smith.
They face games against Austria and Romania.
