THERE will be more than just three points on the line when former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp returns to White Hart Lane on Sunday with Queen’s Park Rangers.
New coach Mauricio Pochettino hasn’t quite won over all the Tottenham fans, many of whom still feel Redknapp’s sacking in the summer of 2012 was the moment that derailed a club on the brink of becoming top-four regulars.
But if Tottenham can beat their London rivals – and more importantly do so playing with a certain kind of swagger – it will go some way to endear Pochettino to the Lane faithful.
Meanwhile, after skippering Spurs to a late 1-0 victory over West Ham on Saturday, Younes Kaboul hailed the spirit within the squad. Both sides had a player sent off and Mark Noble missed a penalty for West Ham before Eric Dier scored a dramatic 93rd-minute winner at Upton Park.
“I’m glad – delighted,” said Younes. “It wasn’t easy. We were under pressure after going down to 10 men, that’s normal, but we dealt with it. Then, when they had a player sent off, it was equal and we had more of the ball and were in control.
“We believed we could win. And you could see when Eric was going through on goal that he believed in what he was doing. We’re all delighted for him, and the fans. It was a great moment and a great start for us.”
