SPURS travel to West Ham on Saturday hoping to get revenge on their London rivals for the two victories the Hammers scored at the Lane this season.

The game takes place under the shadow of yet more rumours about Tim Sherwood and his managerial reign at the club. This week, Ajax’s manager Frank de Boer told newspapers in Holland that he would be open to moving to Spurs in the summer. But Tottenham issued a statement yesterday (Wednesday) saying that they had not approached any one at all.

De Boer, who clinched his fourth Dutch title in a row last week, said: “I’m going to think about this possibility after our last league fixture on May 3.

“I’m going to talk and listen. I would like to add something to a club, so that people can say they see the hand of Frank de Boer. There is a beautiful example at Liverpool. That is what Brendan Rodgers is doing now.”

The Spurs statement read: “Reports that we have made approaches to other clubs regarding coaching staff are wholly inaccurate. We have not contacted any club regarding coaching appointments. We regret that a statement such as this is necessary, however, we feel it is important to clarify matters.”

The club have also been linked with Southampton’s Mauricio Pochettino and the current Dutch national team coach Louis van Gaal.
