HARRY Kane’s bid to be the country’s top marksman resumes on Saturday with a tough away-day at Southampton.

Mauricio Pochettino returns to the ground where he cemented his reputation as one of the best young managers in Europe – with the match now having added resonance after Aston Villa reached the FA Cup final.

The Midland club’s success means Spurs may need to finish sixth to qualify for Europe – if the Villan beat Arsenal at Wembley they would scoop one of the elusive Europa League places.

Tottenham go into the game against the Saints in confident mood having grabbed three points in a run-of-the-mill victory against a disconsolate Newcastle at St James Park on Sunday. Nacer Chadli, Christian Eriksen and Kane fired in the goals, while Jack Colback replied for the hosts.

Meanwhile, there’s increasing gossip over the future of up to nine senior Spurs players – and the sporting director who was responsible for signing them.

Vlad Chiriches, Younes Kaboul, Etienne Capoue, Aaron Lennon, Roberto Soldado, Emanuel Adebayor, Paulinho, Benjamin Stambouli and Mousa Dembele could all be on their way out of White Hart Lane in the summer in a bid to raise vital funds for Pochettino.

Franco Baldnin, who was given a £90million transfer war chest two seasons ago following the sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid, could also be shown the door in the major shake-up.
