VLAD Chiriches looks set to stay at Spurs with the club ready to block another attempt by Serie A side Roma to sign the Romanian defender this January.
According to reports, Roma representatives have been in discussions with Chiriches’ agent about a proposed move, and Tottenham’s director of football Franco Baldini has also been party to talks.
But La Maggica have so far had their attempts to sign the 25-year-old, who has yet to cement a regular spot in the first team, rebuffed. There were rumours Tottenham wanted Roma’s out-of-favour forward Mattia Destro in exchange, but so far no deal has materialised.
Spurs are being linked with a £5million bid for Danny Ings. With Roberto Soldado still firing blanks, the bustling Burnley forward, out of contract come the summer, is a feasible option before the window closes on Tuesday.
Meanwhile Tottenham were given planning permission this week to convert an old farm on the fringes of their Enfield training centre into a 45-bed centre for footballers.
It will be used for trainees and available for hire by visiting clubs.
