AARON Lennon made his 300th appearance for Spurs in Sunday’s 1-0 away win against West Brom – and became the third youngest player ever to reach the milestone in a Lilywhite shirt.

His record has only been bettered by club legends Glenn Hoddle and Steve Perryman.

Lennon’s contribution to the side’s form this season was highlighted by team-mate Scott Parker.

“He is a different level, not just his raw pace and his threat on and around the ball but his workrate is something very special,” said Parker.
“I couldn’t think of anything worse if I was a full-back than him running at me.

“Everyone knows the qualities we have out wide. Gareth Bale is fantastic and sometimes gets all the headlines but ‘Azza’ has been key to that as well.”

Tottenham’s wide men proved vital on Sunday as a stunning strike from Bale sealed a 1-0 win away at West Brom.

Meanwhile, youngster Adam Smith, on loan at Millwall, was the star of the show as England Under-21s demolished Sweden 4-0 on Tuesday.

Smith, who set up two of the goals, told reporters after the game it was one of his best outings for the Under-21s. “It was up there. Personally, it was good for me to get two assists,” he said.

“It was difficult with the pitch and the conditions, but the gaffer (Stuart Pearce) said to go out and play and not make any excuses. That’s what we did.”
