• THE Shaw Theatre has discovered that Elton John performed at the Shaw back in 1972 and Eddie Izzard quotes us in his new autobiography as being the last venue he performed in before moving to the Ambassadors to perform his first filmed/solo 1992 comedy West End tour.

We are now regularly getting people writing in saying how they saw George Michael, Queen, Ian McKellen and Judi Dench perform here etc and whether there are any records we could share with them. Unfortunately we don’t as they were all taken by Camden Council when they sold the venue to ACCOR.

As a result we are now starting a campaign to try to get more information about shows from the Shaw’s opening in 1971 until 2014 to publish on our website.

We hope that lots of Camden residents will have attended during this period and may have some great memories/objects etc they might like to share with us so we can shout about this venue’s history and how it is now returning to being an active and successful venue in the community.
