A RECORD seven sabre stars from Camden Fencing Club showed off their sword skills at the World Championships in Croatia.

Jonathon Webb was the top performer in the men’s cadet category as he battled his way to a 12th-place finish out of 79 fencers.

He picked up a string of impressive wins before narrowly losing in the last 16, including a 15-11 victory against club-mate Rubin Amsalem, who finished 20th.

In the women’s junior event Aliya Itzkowitz produced one of Britain’s most outstanding performances to finish a creditable 13th out of 85 fencers.

Her charge was narrowly halted in the final 16 when she lost by just one point against No1 seed Anna Marton from Hungary.
