COME and sing opera choruses at a Royal Opera House “Big Sing” this Friday afternoon (February 15), starting at 4pm. All ages and abilities are welcome at the workshop exploring some of the world’s biggest tunes. The next Big Sing is on Friday March 1, starting at the earlier time of 2.15pm.

TWO recitals are coming up at Burgh House, Hampstead, over the next few days. This Friday (February 15, 7.15pm, £15), pianist Elia Stavrou is playing music by Ravel, Debussy and Fauré. Then on Sunday afternoon (February 17, 2pm, £12, children free), cellist Marianne Tyler Brown – a cello teacher in north London schools – is playing works by JS Bach, Kabalevsky and Imogen Holst.

CADOGAN Hall, Knightsbridge, is hosting the UK debut of the Symphony Orchestra of India, based in Mumbai, next Wednesday evening (February 20). The orchestra was founded in 2006 and has members from more than 20 countries living in the city. Tabla player Zakir Hussain is soloist in his own composition Peshkar alongside orchestral pieces by Beethoven and Rimsky-Korsakov.

MUSIC by composers at the court of Louis XIV and XV is being played by the Ensemble Molière at Heath Street Baptist Church next Tuesday lunchtime (February 19). Ensemble members are Alice Earll, violin; Kate Conway, viola da gamba; and Satoko Doi-Luk, harpsichord.

MOMOCURLY, a trio of Japanese and French jazz musicians, is playing at the Hampstead Jazz Club next Thursday evening (February 21). The trio is led by exciting jazz pianist Momo Otani active on the Tokyo jazz scene.
