ORGANISERS of dozens of low-cost classes taking place at Hampstead Town Hall each week will be showcasing their sessions at an open day on Tuesday, writes Tom Foot.

The U3A London, formerly the University of the Third Age, is offering £5 annual memberships to those on benefits, or £40 for others, as it celebrates its 40th anniversary.

The classes are for people of all ages and range from Arabic from beginners to Scrabble and hypnotherapy.

Chairman Gillian Vafidis, who runs her own sit-down pilates classes, said: “We have more than 1,000 members, but we want to attract a wider variety of people from all across Camden.”

An open-day showcase are being held on Tuesday at Hampstead Town Hall from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
