Ron Holding

Ron and Janette Holding

• I WAS horrified to learn that the Church of England authorities, who run St Paul’s School in Elsworthy Road, see fit to evict Ron and Janette Holding – the school keepers at the school – from the home they have lived in for 43 years, (Eviction threat for caretaker after 43 years at school, June 20).

I personally knew Ron and Janette for over 20 years, when I ran the 12th Hampstead St Paul’s School Scout Group. You would not wish for a more caring and devoted community couple throughout the time they have been involved with the school.

Nothing was ever too much trouble, including being available for late-night openings and closing of the school to enable after school activities.

Giving their time up at weekends. Even driving scouts to camps when necessary. Fundraising activities, etc, etc, etc. In addition to daily running of the school, Janette assisted in the running of the Beaver and Cub Scout Groups.

Their pastoral care of the children was something we could all learn from. Please Church of England authorities – re-think and do your duty – as this couple have done for our community for 43 years. Please help find them a new home.
