Rochester Square Spiritualist Temple
• CAMDEN Town has a secret asset – thrice-knighted, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the Sherlock Holmes books, paid £500 of the £600 building costs and laid a foundation stone of the extraordinary Rochester Square Spiritualist Temple in 1926.
The owners, the Spiritualists’ National Union, have neglected this building and now seek to destroy this heritage to build a block of flats close to the Georgian homes of the square.
This temple should be saved. It is an asset to Camden Town and could be renovated for a funded community facility. Please email: planning@camden.gov.uk and ask for what you want for this building.
