SANTI Cazorla believes that the Premiership will see something special in 2013 as Arsenal’s midfield continues to “understand each other better” with each passing game.

The 28-year-old is excited by his flourishing partnership with Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere. Having helped inspire the Gunners to three consecutive league wins, the central trio have now set their sights on impressing again when Newcastle visit the Emirates on Saturday.

Spain international Cazorla is delighted with how they have adapted to each other’s games, and believes it bodes well for the rest of the campaign.

“Every day that goes by we understand each other better,” he told Arsenal Player. “It is very easy for me to play with them.

“Mikel is more of a tactical player, a very important player in any side. He always has to be well positioned, to cover the open spaces that we leave further up the field.

“And Jack is an amazing football player.

“I did not know him well because when I arrived he was injured, but every day that goes by I understand why he is so well rated here, and especially for what he brings to the team.”

Cazorla has lit up the Premier League with a series of superlative displays since his arrival in August, and he says compatriot Arteta has helped him settle.

“There is a reason he is the vice-captain of the team: he is a reference player in the dressing room,” he said. “He has helped me a lot.

“He knew I was a new signing, that it would be a positive experience for me, but that I would also need time. He has had a calming effect on me.

“He has shown his confidence in me, and it is clear that Mikel has been key in my adaptation because he has always helped me.”
