A TEAM of sprinting Santas will be swapping their sledges and reindeer for cheeks as red as their suits after signing up for a sponsored charity run.
Ben Dorsett, David Orbell, Glenn Mahoney, Charles Wood, and brothers Ross and Harry Deller make up the unmistakable Santa’s Elf and Safety Clause squad.
The scarlet-tunicked runners will be tackling the 5k London Santa Dash next month to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital for children.
Made up of three Arsenal fans, a Chelsea fan, a Manchester United fan – and even a Queens Park Rangers fan – the boys, who all live in Camden or Islington, have already smashed their target of £1,000.
Now they are hoping to keep running up their grand total.
“We’ve already raised close to £2,000, and now we want to get as much as possible for what is such a tremendous cause,” said Ben, who lives in West Hampstead and is a member of Camden Council’s Sport and Physical Activity Service. “I became a father to twins in August and one of my sons, Frankie, is an out-patient at Great Ormond Street, so I’ve seen first hand all the good work all the doctors and nurses there do. It would be great to give something back.”
