The scene in Finchley Road

THE Health and Safety Executive is investigating after a man was injured by falling masonry in Finchley Road.

The stonework came down on April 3 as work took place on one of the buildings in Swiss Cottage.

Police were at the site until Monday when they handed over to the safety body. Debris could still be seen on the pavement.

The man’s injuries were not judged to be life-threatening by the Met. He was discharged after being taken to hospital.

Wahel Al-Monakel, who runs a neighbouring hardware store in Finchley Road, said: “My colleague was running the shop and he rang at the end of the day to say business was a bit dead as police cars were outside and the pavement was blocked off.

“It sounded terribly sad, I hope he is OK.”
