WITH Petr Cech’s controversial switch from Chelsea to Arsenal, followed by his dodgy Premier League debut against West Ham on Sunday, it seems like goalkeepers have been hogging the headlines all summer.

Well here’s one shot-stopper who deserves a spell in the spotlight. High-flying Luca Carlton returned home from the Iber Cup in Portugal to a hero’s welcome after putting in a string of eye-catching displays for Pro Touch Soccer Academy – even helping himself to a goal in one of their games.

As a reward for all his hard work, the 10-year-old, who lives in Islington, has now been invited to join his favourite club on trial.

“He’s at West Ham and he’s really enjoying it,” said his dad Tim.

“It’s early days, we’re taking it day-by-day at the moment.”
