The Royal Free Hospital

• IN response to the January 26 news in brief on nurse staffing levels at the Royal Free Hospital, it was disappointing the report was published without context and without a right to reply.

We would like to reassure your readers that all inpatient wards are monitored ahead of every shift to ensure that they are staffed by the correct number of nurses and health care support workers to provide safe care. Whenever needed, bank and agency nurses are brought in to support wards to ensure safe and effective care.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all Royal Free London nurses and midwives, for their continued dedication and for the care they provide to our patients.

JULIE HAMILTON
Group Chief Nurse
Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust
