• SEEING mayor Sadiq Khan smiling broadly at the Ed Sheeran gig at the Irish Centre in Camden reminded me of earlier this year and how hard it had been to get Mr Khan to visit the borough in the wake of the murders of two young men, (Ed Sheeran plays intimate fund-raiser at London Irish Centre , June 21).

His reluctance to visit Camden in the aftermath of the deaths of Abdikarim Hassan, 17, and Sadiq Aadam Mohamed, 20, in Kentish Town was unforgivable.

With a community reeling from the tragedies we needed to feel like our calls for help were not been left unanswered, but for a while it certainly felt like that.

Coming along to an intimate gig of a global superstar is easy; meeting people and communities broken with grief is not. But we need a mayor who responds to communities in good and bad times.
