DEBUTANT Louis Roncari proved a big hit on the national boxing scene on Friday as he not only won his first bout representing the home counties, but was also voted fighter of the night.

The 14-year-old, who lives in Queen’s Crescent, flew up to Motherwell as part of the squad taking on Scotland.

And the St Pancras amateur boxer certainly proved he’s got what it takes to make the grade as he stormed to a hard-fought victory over three two-minute rounds in the 48kg weight category.

Saints head coach CJ Hussein said: “Louis trained all throughout Christmas and is in great shape, which showed in his performance.

“To not only win, but also get the fighter of the night award is a tremendous achievement. He’s made everyone connected to the club very proud, especially his trainer Alfie Dorrington.”

Come on down, test the heat, says CJ

TOP boxing coach CJ is asking those looking to get fit in 2015 one killer question: can you handle the heat?

The St Pancras trainer is holding hot boxing classes in Primrose Hill every Friday night, where those up for the challenge are being put through their paces in soaring heat ranging from 35 to 40 degrees.

“It’s tough, but very rewarding. There’s something for everyone so come along and try it out,” said CJ.

Hot boxing is held every Friday at Fierce Grace in Regent’s Park Road between 8.30pm and 9.30pm. Classes cost £12, call 020 7483 2000 for details.
