RECORD Store Day is coming up on Saturday – don’t forget to support your favourite vinyl stockists. There are a whole lot of special editions and surprises taking place across the country. One of the more unusual stunts set for the day comes from The Alarm’s Mike Peters, who is undertaking a 24-hour transatlantic tour playing four shows – in Newport (Wales), London, New York & Los Angeles all on the same day – to celebrate the release of the band’s Where The Two Rivers Meet 8-track EP, released exclusively for World Record Store Day 2018.

• Speaking of vinyl, this month’s Crawdaddy! event takes place at The Fiddler’s Elbow tomorrow (Friday) with Sean Davis and Davedave from top London night Point Blanc joining Gary, Lucienne and Danny to play northern soul, mod, Motown, vintage R&B, Two Tone, ska and rocksteady, all on vinyl.

• Think you know everything you know about The Libertines? Test your knowledge at Quiz This It?, a new quiz night launching at The Monarch on April 23. Each edition will focus on a different band, with the debut event focusing on The Libertines. The victorious team can expect to win prizes, including some limited edition vinyl, while there will also be a Libertines cocktail and greatest hits DJ set afterwards from Quiz This It? DJs.

Heather Small

To some, the disappearance of ‘90s band M People from the scene was a welcome relief to the ears. But for fans of the band – or at least the lead singer – former frontwoman Heather Small plays ULU tomorrow (Friday).

• Dartmoor-based husband and wife duo Kathryn Roberts + Sean Lakeman, who fuse traditional song arrangements with their self-penned material taking in folk, rock, country and blues, play Cecil Sharp House on April 21. Their fifth studio album, Personae – a mix of traditional ballads and their own material produced by Sean – was launched last month.

Lisa Stansfield is back and plays London Palladium on April 21 with support from Irit.
