Former councillor Roger Robinson
• WELL, it seems that if you wait long enough everything comes around full circle.
I was pleased to read the doors of the former premises of the Camden Town Neighbourhood Advice Centre (CTNAC) are open again to people needing advice in the borough, (Demand for free legal help grows, July 28).
After ceasing to fund and finally evicting CTNAC from Greenland Road in 2005 it is good to see that the Camden Law Centre, which worked closely with CTNAC over the years and has faced its own struggles, has found its new home in Greenland Road. It’s not surprising that they are already overwhelmed with cases given the cost of living crisis.
We continue to mark the passing of CTNAC’s main adviser, Barry Sullivan, and will be gathering on Tuesday August 30 at 6pm at Barry’s Bench in St Martins Gardens, as usual.
Last year we added the CNJ’s Eric Gordon to the list of absent friends. This year we were delighted to see long-term supporter and friend of the CTNAC, former councillor Roger Robinson, becoming an honorary Alderman of the borough. I look forward to visiting to see Roger’s name carved into the marble at the town hall.
The CTNAC were very lucky to have Roger Robinson fighting our corner when it no doubt did him no favours to be seen to be supporting us.
Roger Robinson, like Barry Sullivan, has always done what he thought was the right and moral thing to do and we thank him again for all his support to the CTNAC and the many hundreds and no doubt thousands of people he has helped over his four decades as a councillor, going I think the extra mile to assist those in emergency situations.
We salute you Roger.
