Road pricing not the way

Thursday, 28th July 2022

• MANY people don’t know that Transport for London is running a consultation on introducing road pricing throughout Greater London.

London-wide road pricing would be disastrous for those who live in, work in, or visit the capital.

The excuses of addressing congestion or pollution wear thin given that TfL’s existing road schemes bunch up traffic, burn more fuel and increase emissions.

The motive is definitely financial and the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan hints at “a surplus” being made to fund his other projects.

He has refused to exempt a mobile charity from current charges and exemptions for disabled people are only temporary.

Plans to expand the ULEZ, ultra low emission zone, are a stepping stone that would put in thousands of surveillance cameras, with a threat to everyone’s privacy.
