Right-wingers have been spreading false stories about our party
Thursday, 21st June 2018
• AS a member of Hampstead & Kilburn Constituency Labour Party, I was actually present in the meeting which some extreme right-wing members of the party chose to write false and sensationalised stories about in the press, (‘Smear’ accusations as Labour clash over Dame Tessa silence, May 31).
Regrettably those false stories led to a former Camden Council leader to call for the suspension of our CLP.
I write to say I stand in agreement with Rebecca Shirazi’s letter (The ex-council leader should stop briefing against Hampstead & Kilburn CLP, June 14).
Sadly, for too long, those on the left have tried to remain silent and dignified despite the constant attacks we receive on a daily basis, in the national press, online news outlets, and within our branches.
It is great to see someone like Rebecca taking a stand and saying enough is enough, stop with the one-sided, biased, accounts and untrue stories.
It is these sorts of lies which have led in the corrosion of trust in politicians and politics as a whole.
