Seb Eurico goes through tactics

WHEN you think about the classic Ajax teams you think just two words: total football. It was a style played by masters like Johan Cruyff, Johan Neeskens and Ruud Krol who guided the Dutch giants to three consecutive Champions Cups in the early 1970s.

The club passed on a footballing philosophy via some of the greats of the game, like Marco van Basten, Frank Rijkaard, Dennis Bergkamp and new Barca signing – Luis Suarez. Today it’s Sebastian Eurico.

Despite being too young to fully appreciate the impact Ajax had on the game Seb, 19, is determined to get the players in his new academy, Camden Elite FC, playing “the right way”.

“I have been watching loads of clips on YouTube featuring the great Ajax teams of the past and want to pass their style of play on to the youngsters so that they develop the right footballing philosophy at an early age,” said Seb, who grew up in Camden Town. “They have to learn the importance of hard work and dedication from the very beginning, and get use to quick passing, keeping the ball and free-flowing football.”

Seb, who hit our headlines when he signed a four-year contract at Nottingham Forest, insists that training will still be fun. “To get the best out of children they have to be enjoying themselves,” he said.

“There will be fun and games during training, too, like the worst trainer having to wear a onesie to training, fun forfeits – even occasional treats when the teams trains well.”

Camden Elite will be playing in the Camden & Regent’s Park Youth League and the Camden & Islington Midweek Youth League next season. Players aged seven to 13 interested in joining the academy should call Seb on 07956 656917 for details.
