PLAYERS representing the Pro Touch Soccer Academy continued to gain valuable experience on the international scene when they travelled to Denmark to take part in the Dana Cup.

We reported last month how a squad of 40 players from the academy’s youngest age groups took part against professional squads from the likes of Atlético Madrid, Paris St-Germain and Benfica at the Iber Cup in Portugal.

This time around it was the Under-15s turn to tackle Europe and they certainly caught the eye as they qualified from their group without conceding a single goal.

In the end it was only the luck of penalties that got the better of them as they were eliminated out in the knock-out stages.

Manager Tony Blair was very proud of how his boys got on. “Our players enjoyed an experience that they may not ever get again,” he said. “They played against other nationalities and learned how to compete with them at the highest level. I’m proud of the way the lads played, conducted themselves, and have developed both as individuals and a team. Wherever they went they were respected.”

Pro Touch are looking for players aged five to 16. Anyone interested should call Ash on 07732 872022 for details.
