Residents need food security and much more could be done by the local authority

• IT is evident that there is a pressing need to provide essential food regularly to more residents.

Living in Somers Town, I am aware that food banks and hubs and other services currently help hundreds of families every week.

Some supply measures could be instituted quickly involving use of school facilities and community rooms on housing estates. Free school meals could be provided during the summer break.

It is surprising that food hubs in Camden properties are not rent-free considering the valuable public service they give.

Can there, please, be an urgent response from Camden’s cabinet before the summer holidays as to when and how new and vital food security measures can be implemented?
