Repairs are just not being done here
Friday, 27th August 2021
• I LIVE in Chancellor’s Court, Orde Hall Street; Tybalds’ estate.
Most of the residents here have been suffering from disrepairs and uninhabitable conditions. There are number of vulnerable people living in this building with recurring leaks and lack of repairs.
Since July this year there have been numerous reports of leaks in the building. I have reported many since July 2. Seemingly, the left hand does not know what the right hand does.
Based on Freedom of Information requests I understand that between January 2019 and mid-August 2021 there have been 123 reported leaks and in average (according to the information) it took 8.7 days for each repair. In my opinion, that warrants a full-time plumber on site.
While the leak passes through upstairs flats, once it reaches ground floor it accumulates. I am now having two large dehumidifiers, and ongoing leaks in the electricity cupboard and kitchen.
My whole flat is ruined; electricity cupboard, all walls, all ceilings, kitchen units and dining furniture, bedroom, bathroom, toilet.
Seemingly Camden Council have broken almost every rule. And Camden’s legal team are complicit in this.
They sent what I consider to be a semi-qualified person to inspect, together with a supervisor who apparently did not even know where to start.
Yet repairs are not happening. They have a surveyor available yet they will not engage them.
I have been offered – by the repair team – a plumber to see what a carpenter needs to do, while my neighbour was sent a carpenter to examine the leak!
