POLICE say they are investigating a hate crime after red paint was thrown over an office building in Hampstead.
The office of Britain Israel Communications and Research Centre (BICOM) – which promotes and raises awareness of Israel – in Hillsdown House, Hampstead High Street, was targeted on Saturday.
It said in a post on X that it is “appalled” by the “attacks”, adding: “These cowardly, violent acts of domestic terrorism do nothing to support the situation in the Middle East; and only threaten and endanger British citizens.”
Palestine Action posted photos on X along of the paint attack with a statement criticising BICOM that added: “Dismantle zionism.”
On the same day, the group posted images of the Jewish National Fund (JNF), in Hendon, was also splattered with red paint.
On its website, JNF UK describes itself as “Britain’s oldest Israel charity” and a longstanding supporter of “Zionist pioneers”.
Palestine Action said the protests were connected to Balfour Day – a day of mourning and protest for people in the Middle East.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Ridley said the vandalism will be “robustly investigated” adding: “I know that incidents like this cause significant concern in the community.
“We have been clear that we have zero tolerance for hate crime.”
