Red lines continue to slow traffic

Thursday, 30th July 2020

• IT’S great to see that the lanes at the bottom of Parkway have become two again, partly due to a citizens’ group taking action, (Did traffic rebels force an end to TfL plans to widen pavements on famous street? July 23).

We have to assume that Transport for London took the offending materials away, but they omitted one thing. The double red lines put down on one side of the road remain in the middle of the road!

I stood there for two minutes this week and observed several near misses as drivers on the right saw the lines and manoeuvred into the left-hand lane which, of course, slows the traffic.

And what about all those temporary traffic and pedestrian crossing lights? What is the schedule and who is paying for them?
