A SPEEDY team of swimmers from Camden Swiss Cottage quickly settled into unfamiliar surroundings at the weekend when they took part in the inaugural opening meet at Luton’s new 50m Olympic-sized pool.
Golden girl Indigo Mathews made the pool her own as she recorded a new personal best time of 2.32.08 to win the 200m individual medley in the girls’ 13/14 age category.
The highly-rated 13-year-old hit another best time of 5.24.95 to bag a bronze in the 400m individual medley.
Competing in the girls’ 17/18 age group, Rosie Hughes (pictured) was also on good form in the club’s first long-course meet of the season, striking silver in the 50m backstroke and the 100m freestyle.
The 17-year-old’s backstroke mark of 31.06 is a qualifying time for the National Youth Championships in July, while her freestyle time of 59.85 was a long-course lifetime best.
Olivia Willis, 15, matched Rosie’s double silver in the girls’ 15/16 age category as she took the runners-up spot in both the 100m backstroke and the 200m freestyle.
Her backstroke time of 1.07.26 was another national qualifying time, while her time of 2.09.56 in the freestyle was a personal best.
Olivia also won a bronze in the 200m individual medley with another national qualifying time.
Sophie Rittenhouse, 17, was a silver medallist in the 100m butterfly and the 200m backstroke, while Tudor Puszet, 16, won silver in the 50m butterfly.
There was also a bronze medal for Tamir Gonen-Cohen in the 100m butterfly.
