• CONGRATULATIONS on the New Journal getting a Newspaper of the Year gong (again!) this year, (Your CNJ named the nation’s finest, September 23) – after the upstart next door pipped you at the post last time.

You report that part of the CNJ’s winning formula is the debate involving readers who send you letters for publication. I’m sure I speak for other frequent correspondents as well when I say we’re glad to be of assistance…
