Questions on Labour and the Middle East

Thursday, 30th November 2023

• CAMDEN Council launched a campaign to celebrate diversity and calling for people to stick together as tensions grow over Israel and Palestine, (Middle East war unity call, November 23).

Should the Labour-led council not be asking itself what has been Labour’s own contribution to those “tensions”?

Sir Keir Starmer, our MP and Labour leader, called himself a Zionist “without qualification”. He gave the impression of encouraging Israel to cut food supplies to Palestinians in Gaza.

Were those comments not divisive and inflammatory?

Does the Town Hall not think that those words damaged the cohesion of the population of Camden?

We certainly know a lot of people in Camden who were offended and enraged by Starmer’s comments.

Hundreds of them attended our demonstration outside the offices of Starmer and fellow Labour MP Tulip Siddiq on November 18.
