A NEW cup quest has been added to the football calendar after organisers behind an eight-a-side youth tournament at Regent’s Park unveiled plans for an Easter return.
The Festival Unity Cup proved a huge success in January (above) as Welsh visitors Gap Connah’s Quay Nomads Academy toppled teams representing the Pro Touch Soccer Academy (PTSA) and Arsenal in the Community to win the inaugural competition.
PTSA director Ash Rahman, who organised the event with Complete Sports, is now keen to make the cup even bigger and better.
“All the players really enjoyed themselves and would relish the chance of competing again,” he said. “So we’re going to invite the champions back to defend their crown in April, and hopefully get a few new sides to sign up too.”
