Provision of palliative care at home is challenging

• THE provision of palliative care at home can be challenging.
I question the use of electronic hospital beds which come in four sizes. When the wrong size is installed it can be a hassle to organise a replacement.
I understand the firm contracted by Camden and South Islington palliative care team have a monopoly for bed installations.
Consequently they regularly neglect to adhere to delivery advice, use one man instead of two for bed deliveries, and the technicians have a poor attitude towards patients and carers.
The wrong size hospital bed will cause problems for an 88-year-old woman after she has had a fall and fractured her spine.
So when a patient prefers their own bed, and requests the removal of the hospital bed, it means the system is slightly flawed.
