POLICE are investigating the theft of money from charity boxes at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Footage from a CCTV camera shows a man using force to break into the dome of the “spinners” boxes – where a coin circles around the edge until dropping into the collection – and tipping the change into a bag on the evening of July 29.

The proceeds would have gone to help the hospital. No arrests have yet been made.

A spokesman for the hospital said: “We are aware of an incident that took place in the hospital involving two charity collection tins. In partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, we are working closely with the police to assist their ongoing investigation.”
