Pro Touch SA Under-8s took on a team from Championship side Millwall in a special friendly match

A SQUAD of wannabe professional footballers will be given the chance to “see what their future could look like” when they tackle youth teams from Premier League and Championship clubs.

Players from Pro Touch SA are gearing up to face a fixture list that includes games against West Ham, Queens Park Rangers and Reading in the coming weeks.

The action is already well underway after the club’s youngsters, aged between seven and 11 years old, travelled to south London last week to take on academy sides from Millwall.

“It was never about the results,” said Pro Touch founder Ash Rahman. “It was about giving our players the chance to see what the standard is like within a pro club.

“We took a number of youth teams to Millwall over three days, where various age groups got to play and train alongside young professionals. What better way for them to see what would be expected of them should they ever be asked to join a pro club?”

Ash added: “We played a series of friendlies, and I can honestly say that our players stood up to be counted. They weren’t overwhelmed by the occasion.

“Overall we did really well against some well-organised opponents.

“Speaking to a few of the kids on the way back home you could tell that the experience gave them a renewed focus to keep working hard in training so that they can one day earn a place within the professional game.”

Pro Touch celebrate their 14th anniversary this month. Ash added that during that time they have built up a strong relationship with a host of top clubs.

He said: “Over the years we have gained a well-respected reputation, which allows us to work with, and play against, a number of professional clubs. This Saturday our Under-12s play Queens Park Rangers, and in the coming weeks we are also hoping to confirm games against Arsenal, West Ham, Watford and Southampton.”

Pro Touch are on the lookout for new players. Anyone interested can call academy project manager Mus Turay on 07500 421 944 or email
