Private developers really care about your safety… honestly!

• ONCE again the New Journal is showing its contempt for “public safety” by challenging the right of a giant faceless development company to track us all with facial recognition equipment, (About faces, Comment, August 15).

I will admit that Argent has laughingly “regenerated” once-public land into millions of profit for itself. Plus the fact much of the land was flogged to it on the cheap by the desperate-for-cash-at-any-cost Camden Council who have sold miles of the borough to private companies now.

Surely it can now do what it likes to us. I think they’re going to trial charging for walking on the pavements and breathing soon. Sounds fair to me.

It’s because they care. Thank god Argent hasn’t put affordable housing anywhere and instead filled every inch of the place with luxury apartments and poncy restaurants and that bastion of taxation fairness Google.

The fact that most experts agree that facial recognition doesn’t work and can criminalise innocent people fits in well with Argent’s general attitude to ordinary Camden citizens.

Private developers really care about your safety folks. Honestly.
