PRINCE William got his wetsuit on and dived into a Holborn swimming pool yesterday (Wednesday) as he became the president of a national diving club.

To mark the occasion, the Duke of Cambridge visited the Oasis Sports Centre in Endell Street, where he had a go at snorkelling with some children, before putting on an air tank and scuba diving in the pool. Prince Charles also attended the event, though he chose to stay dry and not to take a dip in the water.

Prince William, who is a keen diver, took over as president of the British Sub-Aqua Club, as his father Prince Charles handed over the position he had held for 40 years, and his father Prince Phillip held before him.

“Prince William said he was happy to take on the role and he hoped he would be doing it for another 40 years before handing it over to Prince George,” said Mark Brill, the diving officer of Holborn scuba club, who practise at the sports centre every week.
