• IT really will not do for Dr Alan Selwyn to place public concern about vaccine safety in the realms belief “in alien abductions” or “the existence of fairies”, (Check out the facts on vaccination, May 9).

These are medical products which come with a list of potential harms, some of which are acknowledged in patient information leaflets and can be serious.

If patients or their representatives are brutally dismissed when they report harm what is the evidence base for believing the products are safe? I do not think Dr Selwyn’s message is reassuring in the least.
