Poor pricy fare in the cafes on the Royal Parks
Friday, 22nd July 2022
• EVERYDAY I walk in both Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill. Why are the cafés so badly run, considerably overpriced, and the food on offer so poor?
And why don’t they open before 10am (if only in the summer)?
I have children with me and cannot afford to buy anything at any of the Benugo-run cafés – they are just too expensive.
Surely these cafés should be viewed as a park amenity like the toilets that are never open in Regent’s Park Broadwalk (at the larger of their two locations).
On Wednesday July 13 at 10.30am the café on Primrose Hill was unbearable. There was no ice, the fridge was broken, and the temperature inside was unbearable, and no air con.
The serving staff are lovely but I am not sure how anybody is expected to work under these conditions – there should be a law restricting staff working above a certain temperature!
I think the café at the Boat House is operated by a different company – anyway its certainly a bit better and less expensive than what we have on offer!
