THE Crucible Theatre wasn’t the only place to catch premier potting at the weekend as top pool players from across Camden and Islington chalked up for the start of the county season.

While defending champion Ronnie O’Sullivan was playing scintillating snooker in Sheffield, a selection of players from the Chalk Farm Pool League were taking to the tables in Aylesbury.

Representing a strong Central London team, players battled it out in a series of tough 36-frame contests against top opponents Buckinghamshire.
Led by Gloucester Globetrotter Paul Smith who lives in Angel, the men’s ‘A’ team put in a creditable display despite slipping to a 23-13 defeat.

The ‘B’ team, however, lifted the spirits as they pocketed a resounding 25-11 victory.

Their big break was led by Dave Dugdale who won all four of his frames.

Despite the efforts of Michaela McEvoy, the women’s team lost 21-7 in their 28-frame contest. Michaela, who plays for Kilburn’s Prince of Wales Dynamos, can be proud of her performance as she won all four of her frames.

Sponsored by The King’s Cross Hurricane Rooms, the Central London team also picked up a series of good wins in the senior division.
