Pollution will be worse in one road compared with another

• AMONG the proposals put forward by Camden to reduce levels of pollution in residential streets is to divert some of the traffic from Chetwynd Road onto Twisden Road. This totally ignores two important factors.
A pollution study carried out in Camden found that levels of pollution were higher in Twisden than in Chetwynd road. This is not surprising as Twisden is E-shaped, which makes it very difficult for wind to disperse pollution.
Chetwynd, like most roads, is reasonably straight and open at both ends (and at crossroads), which allows wind to disperse pollution.
If this proposal were to be agreed, it would lead to considerably increased pollution in Twisden, to the detriment of the health of its residents. These include a significant number of young and elderly – most vulnerable to pollution.
