Politicians in the council can become unaccountable

• WILL things change for the better with a new council leader then?
No. A Camden housing contractor was given a job to rebuild a boundary wall to the rear of a property in Arlington Road.
Work commenced in December 2016 but was abandoned when almost complete in January 2017 and the site was left untouched until the new wall was demolished last month.
Apparently the wrong contractor was involved, then the foundation was incorrectly laid, and the wrong type of bricks were used.
Sounds familiar! It was only the alertness of a local resident who had this work stopped by complaining to Camden about this particular fiasco.
It’s the same old story. Building contractors ripping off Camden’s housing department since 2008.
The problem with Camden has been their poor leadership since 2000. When parties in power have an overwhelming majority they tend to act like elective dictatorships.
The whole system is wrong. Politicians exaggerate their importance at election time then, once elected, and if with a comfortable majority, they can become unaccountable for at least four years.
