A DRIVE-BY shooting suspect is still at large more than a month after a perpetrator opened fire with a shotgun in Somers Town.
Police confirmed they have not made any further arrests since people were shot at from a black Toyota while they were leaving a memorial service at St Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in Phoenix Road on January 14.
Four women, a 12-year-old girl and a seven-year-old sustained injuries from the attack. A 48-year-old woman is still in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries.
Police confirmed that “the perpetrators [they] want to target are local to Camden”, however no one else has been arrested after a man was bailed in January. A 22-year-old man was arrested after a car was stopped in Cricklewood Lane, Cricklewood, on January 15.
He was bailed “pending further enquiries to a date in mid-February”.
Detective Superintendent Jack Rowlands, from the local policing team in Camden, said: “I recognise this incident caused significant concern, however I would like to reassure you that there is nothing to suggest there is any wider risk to the community.
“One man has been arrested and our investigation continues. Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are working exceptionally hard to identify those responsible. This work is ongoing and it would be inappropriate to share further details at this time.
“We are committed to ensuring Camden is a safe place to live, work and visit. Our local policing plan focuses on tackling the crimes that we know matter most to the public, such as violence and anti-social behaviour.”
In August 2021, four people were shot from a car while they were enjoying a BBQ in Clarence Gardens in the Regent’s Park estate. No one has been charged in connection. Police say the two incidents are not linked.
