The victims are recovering well, police said
ACID was thrown over two women near Queen’s Crescent and police say the suspects are still at large.
Two women, aged 20 and 59, said that they had opened a front door on Tuesday, July 9, to two men who threw a “corrosive substance” over them.
Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at around 2pm.
Officers found the two women were injured and both of them were taken to hospital.
Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, and they are understood to be recovering well.
Detectives said they are carrying out a thorough investigation.
DCI Chris Soole, who is leading the case, said: “This incident has understandably caused some community concern and our thoughts are with the victims who remain in hospital at this time.
“Our specialist detectives are working hard to identify those responsible and I would urge anyone who has any information to contact us as soon as possible.”
On July 10, councillors sent a letter reassuring residents. It said: “We are extremely saddened about the serious incident that took place involving a corrosive substance being thrown at a person.
“All our thoughts are with those affected by this incident including the victim, their family and friends, witnesses and wider community members.”
Ward councillor Marcus Boyland said: “Local councillors were very concerned to hear about this attack. We are working with local police and council officers to ensure residents are reassured we have a strong presence in the area.”
