TROUBLE flared after a Labour Party fundraiser in Camden Town on Sun­day afternoon, leaving police investigating claims of violence.

Officers said “enquiries were continuing” following the incident in Parkway at about 4.45pm. A Met spokesman said: “Police are investigating after an allegation of assault. The victim, a man in his late 40s, had attended hospital and subsequently reported the matter to police.”

The spokesman added: “The victim stated he had been assaulted by three people and threatened with a knife. An appointment has been made to speak to the victim. No arrests. Enquiries continue.”

It is understood a counter-allegation has also been made. Party members had been raising money for the Camden Town and Primrose Hill branch at a restaurant.

Holborn and St Pancras MP Sir Keir Starmer is understood to have left before the incident under investigation.
