POLICE are investigating an unexplained death in a Primrose Hill housing block, a week after a woman was found dead.

The 68-year-old was found in her flat in Primrose Hill Court, between Oppidans Road and King Henry’s Road, after calls to the police with concerns about her welfare.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman in her 40s, known to the woman, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

She was taken to hospital before going into police custody, and has since been released on bail.

Forensic vans and police were seen outside the block for several days after the discovery on January 10, with residents reporting that officers had been patrolling.

A post mortem examination was inconclusive and detectives await the outcome of further forensic tests. She has not been named by officers.

Tenants in the block were shocked in the aftermath, paying tribute to the victim’s warmth.

One neighbour said: “We saw the police last week and they asked us what we’d heard, but I hadn’t heard anything.

“It’s so sad. We would see her coming back from doing her shopping in a black cab, bringing her trolley with her. She was lovely and really warm, even in the brief encounters you would have in the lift.”

Another said: “She would always say hello, she always made us feel welcome.”
