Wilson Varela, 24, died after being shot at the corner of Malden Road and Prince of Wales Road
• HOW tragic that a triumphantly successful Queen’s Crescent Festival, supported by the entire community, should be marred by the death of a young man callously shot in cold blood in nearby Malden Road, Haverstock ward, at around midnight last Sunday, September 7, (‘We are very sad’: Portuguese family of gun murder victim Wilson Varela left devastated).
Two killers then reportedly fled on a black motorscooter towards Camden High Street. Senior police have assured me that they can find no local connection with Gospel Oak, but that there will be extra police in the area over coming days.
In the meantime, they ask for people with any information at all, no matter how seemingly trivial, to contact the Incident Room at 0208 358 0200.
Alternatively people can give information completely anonymously to Crimestoppers at www.crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information or by calling 0800 555 111.
